The Excel Center is committed to meeting the academic needs of the child during the treatment stay. Recognizing that many of the child's emotional problems are school related, we offer an on-campus Texas Education Accredited school program provided by Brazos River Charter School. The charter school has the freedom to structure lessons to the specific needs of the child while also maintaining the child's progress in accordance to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills model mandated for all accredited schools in Texas. Standardized testing will be administered to the child in accordance with the master testing schedule for all Texas schools if the child's treatment stay occurs at these published testing times.

The academic program provides:

• Individualized instruction designed to maintain mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
• Communication with the home school campus
• Withdrawal grades and attendance issued to the home school upon request and at discharge
• Weekly grade reports for the parent
